Welcome to Jerusalem

A city where everyday life, religion and politics merge: The thematic exhibition "Welcome to Jerusalem" at the Jewish Museum Berlin shows a cross-section of Jerusalem's urban history on an area of 1000 square meters.

Historical exhibits, contemporary art and media installations will be shown at selected events from Herod to the present day. Not only the historical relevance of Jerusalem is discussed, but also the current perception of the city by its inhabitants and tourists. Jerusalem is not only a spiritual centre for many different faiths, but as the capital of Israel it also has an important political significance.

Jerusalem in real-time

The objects on display are on loan from international museums. One highlight is the large model of the Islamic sacred precinct Haram esh-Sharif, of which only three exist worldwide. In the documentary "24 Jerusalem" by Volker Heise visitors can experience life in Jerusalem in real-time.
