Müggelturm

Müggeltum

The Müggelturm (Müggel Tower) in Berlin-Köpenick.

The Müggelturm in Berlin-Köpenick is a popular scenic viewpoint in south-east Berlin. In good weather, visitors can see 60 kilometers in all directions from the viewing platform.

The Müggelturm (Müggel Tower) stands at a height of 88 meters above sea level on the Kleiner Müggelberg, which in turn is part of the Müggelberge mountains. The tower itself is 30 meters high and is surrounded by dense forests. After climbing the 126 steps, the view extends from Müggelsee to Alexanderplatz, from the Spreewald (Spree Forest) to BER Airport in ideal weather conditions.

Popular destination with a view

The Müggelturm in its current form was opened on December 31, 1961 and was a popular excursion destination in the GDR. After climbing the tower, the restaurant with its wine bar and sun terrace invited visitors to linger. After reunification, the Müggelturm was left to decay for a long time. The tower and restaurant were reopened in May 2018 thanks to a new investor.

Around the Müggelturm

Not only is the tower itself worth a visit, the forest is also an attractive recreational area with many outdoor activities. Hiking trails, cycle routes, a downhill trail and a nature trail allow visitors to explore the wooded area around the Müggelturm.
