With a maximum depth of 10.64 metres, the Weißer See in Pankow is Berlin's seventh deepest lake. It offers a lido, boat rentals and cozy cafés on its shore.
The Weißer See is the namesake of the Weißensee district and offers a wide range of leisure activities. In the eastern part, visitors to the Weißensee lido can sunbathe and enjoy a cool drink at the modern cocktail bar. On the opposite side, a traditional café-restaurant invites you to linger over coffee and cake. There is also a boat rental service, an animal enclosure and a park. In winter, some brave people venture out onto the frozen lake on skates.
From the Weißensee lido, visitors can get into the water for a swim. With a sandy beach and palm trees, the lido offers a summery atmosphere. Some wellness offers are also available here. Swimming in the Weißer See is restricted to the lido area and strictly forbidden on the remaining banks of the lake.
The Weißer See in the north-east of Berlin developed after the Vistula ice age. Despite its relatively small size, it is the seventh deepest lake in the capital. In the middle of the 19th century the park was laid out around the lake. The Weißensee lid and the café on the opposite side have existed since 1920.
