The two-hour guided walking tour organised by Sightseeing Point GmbH starts at Potsdam main train station and leads through the historic city's centre to Sanssouci Palace. This tour invites you to discover the omnipresent traces of Prussian history and other famous sights in Potsdam, the state capital of Brandenburg.
The guided city tour starts at Potsdam main train station, which is within easy reach from Berlin by regional train or the S-Bahn. First stop on the way to Sanssouci Palace in the north-western part of Potsdam is the rebuilt City Palace at the Old Market. Reconstructed with a historic façade and a modern interior, the building serves as the new parliament house of the federal state of Brandenburg.
After visiting the New Market, a well-preserved baroque square surrounded by stately bourgeois houses, the tour continues to the Dutch Quarter, which is considered Europe's largest ensemble of Dutch-style brick houses outside the Netherlands. Only a few steps away begins the bustling activity of the historic city centre - including Brandenburger Straße, a well-frequented pedestrian zone with redeveloped baroque buildings, many cafés and shops, popular with Potsdam citizens and visitors alike.
Passing through Potsdam's own Brandenburg Gate at Luisenplatz the tour culminates in a visit to the magnificent splendor and extensive gardens of Sanssouci Park. Participants will see the Park's Italian-style Church of Peace and the tomb of Frederick the Great before the tour ends at the foot of Sanssouci Palace towering over beautiful vineyard terraces.
