Route of the Bike Tour: Along the Wall Strip

After receiving a suitable e-bike from your guide, you will start from the meeting point in the direction of Berlin-Wedding. After you arrive at Mauerpark, the actual tour begins. From here you follow the former course of the Berlin Wall. After a stop on Strelitzer Straße, where 57 East Germans managed to escape to the West through a tunnel, you continue to the Wall Memorial, the Chausseestraße border crossing and the Invalidenfriedhof until you reach the Government District and the Brandenburg Gate. The gate has become the symbol of German unity after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

From Potsdamer Platz to Checkpoint Charlie

Your next stop is Potsdamer Platz. Looking at the futuristic skyscrapers, it is hard for some to imagine that the Wall used to run here. Its course can be traced here in a metal strip embedded in the ground. Original parts of the Wall can also be seen at Potsdamer Platz. Before the tour ends, you will visit the most famous border crossing in Berlin: Checkpoint Charlie. During the tour you will get a lot of important and exciting information about the creation of the Wall, about the Cold War period and where the most spectacular Wall escapes took place. After the tour by e-bike along the former Wall strip, you will know what a ghost station is and where the Wall first opened on November 9, 1989.
