In a laboratory, two researchers look at a slumped figure that seems to have lost all its vitality. What has happened? Depression? Burn out or denial? Has Maxi X dropped out and ‘...would rather not?’  

The investigation into MAXI X's fatigue brings to light original sounds from people who are in insecure employment, freelance artists, care workers, factory workers and other challenging work situations. After the anamnesis, the question arises:

How can the efficient, always-ready-to-perform person find a way out of the ‘frantic standstill of our time’? Do we dare to be useless - contrary to the omnipresent idea of progress and growth? What happens when things do NOT go on?

Jördis Wölk and Julia Vandehof interweave different aspects of work and exhaustion as two clownishly absurd artistic figures in an evening that combines acting, movement and object theatre.
