Experiences of motherhood seldom match with the image conveyed by our culture and language. The ideal, unselfishly caring, endlessly patient and, what is more, happy mother – of course she doesn’t exist. Instead, motherhood becomes society’s predetermined breaking point: When mothers are still required to be unconditional carers – and yet the labour market can’t do without them. When the efforts of motherhood remain invisible, when it not only costs you an arm and a leg but also your eligibility for pension payments. And finally, when a new generation of women decide against motherhood. "#Motherfuckinghood" is a collage about experiences of being a mother. A show about work and care work, about feminism and sons, about motherhood and art. Company member Claude de Demo initiated the project and proposed it to director Jorinde Dröse. Dröse has staged plays at theatres including Thalia Theater, Maxim Gorki Theater, Schauspiel Frankfurt and Staatstheater Hannover. Additionally, she has been working as a mother since 2009.

Wir wissen Bescheid über den Lehrkräftemangel, die fehlenden Kita-Plätze, den Gender Pay Gap und die längst nicht erreichte Vereinbarkeit von Vollzeitarbeit und Familie. Es gibt keinen Mangel an Studien über den Gender Pension Gap, die ungleiche Verteilung von Care- und Hausarbeit in Familien, auch über Mental Load oder die Teilzeitfalle wird gesprochen und geschrieben. Aber ändert sich auch etwas?Eines ja: Immer mehr Mütter sprechen darüber, was das alles konkret bedeutet. "#Motherfuckinghood" ist auf Initiative von Claude De Demo mit der Regisseurin Jorinde Dröse entstanden. Die Entwicklung begann mit einer breiten Recherche und war begleitet von vielen Gesprächen mit Schriftstellerinnen und Wissenschaftlerinnen. Drei Autorinnen haben Texte dafür geschrieben: Antonia Baum, Mareike Fallwickl und Emilia Roig. Weitere Texte von Claude De Demo, Alexandra Zykunov und Jana Heinicke sowie ein Interview mit der Soziologin Jutta Allmendinger sind eingeflossen.Daraus entstanden ist eine Collage über Erfahrungen von Muttersein, über Arbeit und Sorgearbeit, Feminismus und Söhne, über das Gefühl von Schuld, über den Kult der guten Mutter, und darüber, was es bedeutet, wenn Frauen sich zunehmend dagegen entscheiden, die unbezahlte Reproduktions- und Care-Arbeit zu übernehmen.von Karolin Trachte
