A person is truly free, Schiller wrote, when acting, and this freedom is what everyone craves. And for director Leonie Böhm, the theatre is a fantastic place for this search for freedom. This is where we act and experiment – and it’s all live and in a group. The young Schiller tried his hand as a playwright for the first time on The Robbers, and it’s what Leonie Böhm has chosen for this search. Schiller’s play tells the story of the brothers Franz and Karl Moor, who suffer because of their father’s lack of acknowledgement. The father represents many things: the inner critic, the audience, the mirror of society and old principles. In an attempt to emancipate themselves, the brothers get lost in the woods and in their thoughts. »It’s my business what I want to make of myself«, exclaims Franz. Why shouldn’t we live out our own fictions? Why put up these barriers? How do we get back to acting? Together with the ensemble, Leonie Böhm uses the material in the Schiller play in an attempt to catch the soul »in its most secret operations.« Real intimacy without force, your own rules, no fear. Get out of your ruts and into the moment. Very »freely« adapted from Schiller.

This production of Die Räuberinnen has transferred from the Münchner Kammerspiele.
