For the Chinese version of “Dance Me!”, the ensemble _ao_ao_ing takes over the concept of She She Pop (premiere was 2022 at HAU2) and realizes its own version: six guest performers born in the 1960s and 1970s, who were selected through an open casting, share the stage with the actors of _ao_ao_ing, who were born in the 1990s. Through dance and music, they discuss generational differences in China: What constitutes a generation? Can the wisdom, worries, longings and confusion of each age group be expressed through dance and music? “Dance Me! in China” is an attempt to visualise the differences between the generations on stage. The video documentation of the work, which was produced in Shanghai in September this year, will be presented at HAU4. Afterwards, a Q&A with artists from She She Pop and _ao_ao_ing will also take place live on HAU4, questions can be asked via the chat.
