Travis

The Scottish alternative rock band Travis will be performing live in Germany in September.

The sun's rays are finding their way into changeable Germany more and more often and one or two warm days are enough to make the feelings of happiness explode and the summer playlists run hot again. If you still need musical material for night-time road trips or campfires with friends, you should familiarize yourself with the discography of the Scottish alternative rock band Travis - because dreamy longing has rarely been packaged more beautifully in songs than by Fran, Andy, Dougie and Neil. The four of them met at the Glasgow School of Art in 1990 and formed the band without further ado.

The name Travis was inspired by the protagonist of the classic film "Paris, Texas" by Wim Wenders. In 1997, the band released their debut album "Good Feeling", a mix of classic rock tracks and much tamer Britpop numbers - of which the first single "All I Want To Do Is Rock" made it straight into the charts. Two years later, it continued with "The Man Who", which included the hit "Why Does It Always Rain On Me?". In addition to its soothing arrangement of strings, guitars and the unmistakably smooth, comparatively high voice of singer Fran Healy, the song is particularly captivating because of the closeness that arises when Fran sings about never feeling like everything is in order with him and that he always gets more rain than sun - a feeling that everyone knows at times.

Further albums followed at a steady pace and Travis became a kind of Oasis successor with their melancholic Brit-pop. They achieve multi-platinum status, win the BRIT Award and play every major festival. This year, Travis will add another chapter to their extensive history when they release their tenth studio album "L.A. Times" on July 12 and, of course, go on a major tour in the fall. A first taste of this is already available with the single "Gaslight" - and it makes you want to see the Scots live in Cologne, Berlin and Hamburg in September with their longing Britpop design.
