About Us: Musical Theater Society Berlin (MTS) was founded in January 2019 by Lauren, who missed the thrill of producing and performing musical theater in her native UK. MTS was created as a space for both new and long-standing Berliners to share their passion for musicals and create theater together in their mutual language of English.
Our journey began with "A Walk Down Broadway" in October 2019, performing to a sold-out theater in Kreuzberg. Despite the challenges of 2020, we kept the spirit alive with over 50 online concerts and a sold-out Halloween weekend performance of "Little Shop of Horrors." Our second "Walk Down Broadway" cabaret followed in September 2021, and we staged a successful run of "Rent" in November that year. March 2022 saw our third "Walk Down Broadway," themed around "Hopes & Dreams," and in October 2022, we energized our community with "Legally Blonde," a 5-show run in Wedding. Since then we have brought Shrek and A Chorus Line to the stage, as well as 2 more "Walk Down Broadway" shows.
Our Mission: Inclusion and flexibility are at the heart of what we do. We strive to make musical theater accessible to anyone who wishes to participate. Recognizing that many of our members are students or emerging artists, we keep participation costs flexible. After a one-time admin fee, members can freely join and leave shows as they wish without committing to year-long productions. Our expenses, including licensing, rehearsal and performance space, and production costs, are covered through administrative fees and proceeds from previous shows.
Our core team consists of volunteers, but we also collaborate with compensated professionals from the theater industry. These experts, who lead our workshops, masterclasses, and courses, come from five different countries and bring over 60 combined years of experience to our community.
Come experience the magic with us! Whether you’re a seasoned theater lover or new to the scene, "Magic To Do" promises to be a night of unforgettable performances and heartfelt passion. Join us in celebrating the joy of musical theater!
