November marks the beginning of the fairytale season! The Berlin Fairytale Days offer exciting events for fairytale fans all over Berlin. The fall month will once again be a month full of fantastic stories, shining children's eyes and special shared experiences with the family.

The Berlin Fairy Tale Days are taking place for the 35th time, this year under the motto “THE WORLD TREE: The Cosmic Order - From Fairy Tales to Fantasy”: The World Tree is one of three legendary “tree species”. It is joined by the Tree of Life and the Heart Tree. They each have their own meanings and contexts, but are linked by similar metaphors. The world tree, for example, is known as “Yggdrasil” from Norse mythology, where it connects nine worlds. The tree of life, as its name suggests, stands for life itself. In the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm, it is discovered as a tree that bears golden fruit. And the tree of hearts can be found above all in fantasy literature, for example in “Game of Thrones” - a mighty old tree that serves as a sacred place for worship and rituals.

At the Käthe Kollwitz Museum on Sunday, November 24, 2024, “The Three Little Pigs” by Käthe Kollwitz Prize winner Elisabeth Shaw will come to life in the shadow theater.

Berlin Fairytale Days on November 24, 3 - 5 p.m. at the Käthe Kollwitz Museum:

Puppet show: Zilli, Billi, Willi - The three little pigs

Maik Zöllner performs the colorful shadow play with guitar, singing and lots of fun. The play, based on motifs by Irish graphic artist and children's book author Elizabeth Shaw, is about becoming independent, friendship and solidarity.

Workshop: Creating shadow puppets

After the fairy tale performance, all those interested are invited to create their own shadow puppets and try their hand behind the scenes of the small shadow stage.
