Myke – Hacking the Manosphere

onlinetheater.live

All acts of violence in recent years in Germany that have resulted in death and that have been classified as acts of terrorism and discussed by the public have been committed by men. Masculinism (i.e. a radicalised male sense of entitlement) has always been a secondary motive. In addition, the number of acts of violence against FLINTA and queers has been on the rise for years. How does masculinist radicalisation work online, where does it start, and how can it be stopped as early as possible? In the summer of 2024, onlinetheater.live infiltrated anti-feminist content bubbles on TikTok with a specially developed video campaign. Amidst dating tips, self-optimisation marketing, and male supremacist fantasies, the artists wove in counter-narratives to the prevailing image held by men. In this lecture performance, the group will report on their experiment in the world’s largest theatre, the internet, welcoming you to take a deep dive into the “manosphere” on TikTok.
