In the heat of the Peruvian jungle, a group of young people gather in the Rodríguez family home for an event that will change the history of Latin American music: the birth of Los Mirlos and Amazonian cumbia. Based on extensive audiovisual archive material, ranging from the first performances at local parties in the 1960s to the most recent and successful tours in Europe, "La Danza de Los Mirlos" tells the story of one of the pioneering bands of the genre and traces the genealogy of tropical and popular music of an entire continent.

Of course, the usual quarrels between the members, the eccentric adventures and the worship of an entire village are not to be missed, and so Álvaro Luque's documentary is as captivating as the melody of the international cumbia anthem that gives it its name.

As a warm-up, the band Los Chacales welcomes us with a live set of psychedelic cumbia!
