Henrike Iglesias & Miss Theatre: AFTERLIVES

Which parallel realities are conceivable? Where are we when we are not there? How do we need to meet in order to feel connected? And where do we come together to care for and to mourn each other?

AFTERLIVES is a collaboration between the Thai collective Miss Theatre led by artist Miss Oat, the collective Henrike Iglesias and numerous other collaborators. They have created a multimedia, interactive performance that will take place simultaneously in Bangkok and Berlin. Together with the two audiences, separated and yet connected, they embark on a search for queer AFTERLIVES.

The theory of the multiverse, based on the fundamentals of quantum theory, serves as a metaphor, narrative device and source of inspiration to speculate about our own afterlives, queer politics of dying as well as alternative ways of living together. In both Bangkok and Berlin, the audience will gather in the theater space and interact with the performance via their own smartphones. The smartphone becomes a portal that connects the spaces and the audience members with each other.
