In summer 2024, the Zeiss-Großplanetarium will launch the traveling exhibition ".achtzehn"which focuses on young people and their lives across Germany. The multimedia exhibition invites visitors to enter the minds of a generation that is just coming of age. Their perspectives are diverse and profound and open up spaces that invite you to reflect on the questions of our time.

How does it feel to be eighteen today? This question is more than rhetorical - it is the key to a deeper understanding of the generation standing on the threshold of a world full of uncertainties and possibilities. What gives them hope?

John Kolya Reichart, filmmaker and photographer, embarked on a journey across Germany in 2023 to meet 18-year-olds and find out what moves them. The resulting audiovisual work provides very personal insights and takes us across Germany: from the mountains to the sea, to big cities and villages, to playgrounds, highway blockades and military barracks - the realities of life for 18-year-olds are as varied as their visions for the future.

On June 20, .achtzehn will open its doors for the first time to make these different realities of life audible and visible, thus opening up a space for a joint dialog about values and the future. The event in Berlin serves as a prelude to a traveling exhibition that is intended to initiate important discourses at various locations in Germany.
