CTM Festival 2025

Festival for Adventurous Music & Art

CTM 2025 will visit Radialsystem over seven consecutive days, uniting music experimentation and performances with a 5-day discourse programme and an artistic lab.

This festival edition will run without an overarching theme, instead exploring a series of new and ongoing thematic strands. One of several points of focus will be on how traditional art forms and aesthetics can be reinterpreted within modern sound and performance, outside of (self-)exoticisation and the uneven power dynamics created by mass-cultural and other stereotypes. Titled “Resynthesising the Traditional”, the lab hosted by Stas Shärifullá and Susie Ibarra unites eight fellows selected from open call to work at the Radialsystem studios ahead of a public presentation day on Sunday, 2 February.

Evoked first within our CTM Radio Lab, the theme of “Affection” will be examined through commissioned performances, including the audiovisual work “Resonant Resilience” by Lynn Nandar Htoo, rEmPiT g0dDe$$, Gabriel Htoo, and Sarah Hanan which will premiere at Radialsystem. Further performances throughout the week include Ash Fure, Ganavya, ---__--____Seth Graham & More Eaze, the “STACK” AV show by Eek, Female Wizard, Harrison Hall, Sam Mcgilp which is presented with Soft Centre, and a new work by Agustín Genoud developed during his residency as a DAAD Artist-in-Berlin fellow 2024.

Continuing the festival’s examination of spatial audio and artificial intelligence in sound, the 2025 edition will also explore themes of immersive audio and the disruption and creative anarchy within AI’s evolving role in music and art, notably through the “Wilding AI” artistic lab at MONOM as well as a dedicated Discourse programme day presented at Radialsystem. The yearly Research Networking Day will also return to Radialsystem, assembling nine students, scholars, and artists/researchers from a variety of fields of study and approaches to give short presentations within the festival’s different thematic modules.
