Every step is a statement, every item of clothing tells a story: the models who step onto the catwalk are not flawless mannequins, but storytellers who dream of past aspirations and new possiilities and are not afraid to hold up a mirror to the audience and themselves.
In ‘Stoffwechsel - Die alternative Modenschau’, the catwalk shines a light on second chances - both in the personal and material sense. A place in which relationships and tender bonds are forged one moment and the next hanging by a thread, they threaten to tear apart.
Is more really more? Clad in second-hand treasures, the dazzling ensemble showcases the dark side of consumer society and throwaway mentality. This symbiosis of textiles, dance, and theatre blurs the lines between façade and freedom, fact and fiction, between hedonism and materialism.
Fashion with added value: ‘Stoffwechsel’ not only aims to scrutinise the never-ending cycle of consumption, but also to be a platform for positive change with a twist. Selected items of clothing will be auctioned off at the end of the performance. The proceeds will go to Cocon, a women's shelter in Berlin. That way, the fashion show not only gives preloved garments a new life, but also offers a change of perspective, transforming the supposedly worthless into something valuable. So the audience also has the opportunity to give to a good cause.
