Çaystube: Space for experience and deceleration for queer, decolonial and post-migrant togetherness

The Çaystube, designed as a performative installation, serves as a space for experience and deceleration for queer, decolonial and post-migrant togetherness in the middle of the lively Pop-Kultur Festival.

Since its first installation in 2019, originally created as part of Pop-Hayat, the concept has been further developed annually as a commissioned work and adapted to new circumstances and the needs of visitors.

The host of Çaystube 2024 is Olympia Bukkakis, the self-proclaimed "queen of heaven and earth, ruler of despair and architect of eternal suffering". Together with some of her dearest friends, she presents "Unlimited T". In this celestial realm, the elusive "T" embodies a dense web of meanings ranging from trans, testosterone, Çay or Ti amo, symbolizing themes such as transcendence and transformation. Also: performances by EsRap, Jenys and bangerfabrique + DJ sets by Krista Papista and DJ Zuzanna Czebatul. Curated by Yeşim Duman.
