Antikolonialer Widerstand in der BerlinZEIT

Resistance in southern Africa, German colonial policy made in Berlin and music against colonialism and apartheid are on display in the free spaces at BerlinZEIT in the Ephraim-Palais Museum.

2024 marks the 30th anniversary of the end of apartheid in South Africa and the 140th anniversary of the Berlin Africa Conference. To mark the occasion, students from the Master's degree program in Museum Management and Communication at HTW Berlin are developing the exhibition "1884/85 - 1994: 110 Years of Anti-Colonial Resistance | The Struggle: South Africans in Exile in Berlin".
The planned exhibition will be teased on eight free spaces in BerlinZEIT before it opens in February 2025: from the Battle of Salt River (1510) in present-day Cape Town to concerts by Miriam Makeba in the west and east of divided Berlin.
The launch event will be accompanied by live music.
