East Berlin - the capital of socialist East Germany: city of the Berlin Wall, frontline city in the Cold War and the GDR window to the world. Metropolis flair with a great deal of history.
With the Soviet mini-bus "Bukhanka" on city tour to the sights of East Berlin.
Our vehicle:
The minibus “Bukhanka” (“pan loaf”) is a modern Soviet "vintage car". Up to 8 guests (+ driver) can enjoy a unique and authentic experience. There are some surprises waiting on board!
The Tour:
At the Palace of Tears at the Friedrichstraße station we get on the "Bukhanka". Many tears flowed here during the division of Berlin, when families - separated through the Berlin Wall - saying good bye here.
The next stop of the city tour is the Berlin Wall Memorial in Bernauer Straße, the only place where you can experience the former inner-city border strip in its entire dimension.
Now we head for Ernst Thälmann Park in Prenzlauer Berg, with its skyscrapers and the huge Ernst Thälmann monument who was a famous German communist. The city tour continues with two other prestige urban projects in the GDR: the former Lenin Square and the Karl-Marx Boulevard, which impresses with architecture between Soviet classicism and socialist modernism. Kino International and Café Moskau bring the East Berlin flair of the 1960s to life.
The House of the Teacher, with its huge socialist mosaic, connects to Alexanderplatz, which became the modern center of East Berlin.
Finally, the city tour goes back to Friedrichstraße station.
