In Wim Wenders' travel diary, filmed in 1983, we encounter Tokyo through Western eyes and marvel at Japanese adaptations of the West, such as playing golf alone in the stadium by the hundreds. It is also a tribute to director Ozu: "If there were still sanctuaries in our century... if there were such a thing as a sacred treasure of cinema, then for me it would be the work of Japanese director Yasujiro Ozu," says Wenders.
