Painting Dhaka

As part of the Dokumentale Summer preview, the Colosseum Filmtheater is showing the documentary film by artist Lukas Zielinger, who brings the residents of the slums in Dhaka into contact with graffiti art.

Dhaka's markets have long been world-famous thanks to pictures and videos taken by female influencers of trains rushing past. But what does it mean to live next to the train tracks? Berlin artist Lukas Zielinger's affinity for trains takes him to Bangladesh. When he sees the dramatic impact of train traffic on the residents of the slum, he decides to make a change. He does what he does best: He transforms the world into a colorful yet socially critical work of art and teaches the local children how to express themselves using graffiti.
