Summer School "Archaeological Textiles"

Even centuries ago, people made textiles for their clothing and living spaces. In the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin we find an outstanding collection of antique textiles, where we can see the shapes, techniques and colours. During the one-week summer course, we will get to know a variety of originals and the ancient textile craft. We try out different techniques from weaving and embroidery to dyeing. At the end, we will present the results in an open exhibition.
Please bring a light-coloured cotton textile (bag, shirt, etc.) for the dyeing experiments.
