The permanent exhibition tells the story of those people who stood by persecuted Jews in Germany and in German-occupied Europe during National Socialism. It informs about the predicament of the persecuted in the face of the threatening deportations as well as about the decision of individuals to resist the deadly threat by fleeing underground. Help and rescue were the exception. The permanent exhibition shows that help was possible, however, and that it existed in many European countries. The extent, success and conditions of help varied in the different countries of Europe, and the motives for providing help were manifold. The exhibition tour offers an overview of various aspects of the topic "Resistance to the Persecution of the Jews in Europe 1933 to 1945". The focus is on seven examples of rescue attempts from various European countries. The exhibition shows non-Jewish, but also Jewish helpers as well as rescue networks, successful as well as failed rescue attempts. The exhibition also focuses on those who were persecuted: They had to make the active decision to resist the National Socialist policy of persecution and murder. Interactive maps help to explore the topic spatially and chronologically, while research stations and media panels provide more in-depth information. They inform about the situations in the respective European countries by means of country profiles and the documentation of further rescue attempts. The media offer of the exhibition also includes the intensive research possibility at terminals in which the biographies of several hundred helpers and persecutees are documented. This database is constantly being supplemented.
