As part of a cooperation project between the Museum Pankow and the StadtGut Blankenfelde e. V. association, an exhibition on the development of the village of Blankenfelde and its immediate surroundings on the current city limits in the north of Berlin was created back in 2016.
The village of Blankenfelde still lies in the middle of meadows, fields and woodland on the northern border of the borough of Pankow. Where today Berlin's recreation seekers walk, cycle and ride, sewage fields and orchards, sanatoriums and cattle sheds, prison camps and border installations, garbage tips and building rubble dumps have come and gone. The exhibition documents the eventful history of the Blankenfelde estate and at the same time provides insights into Berlin's urban history.
The exhibition was expanded in June 2022 with the newly designed Blankenfelde section in the Barnim Nature Park.
The new part of the exhibition describes the changes in the landscape, naming visible and also not immediately recognizable influencing factors on the permanently ongoing landscape change. It also presents examples of those involved in landscape conservation in Blankenfelde.
The Barnim Nature Park is a third cooperation partner for the exhibition.Translated with DeepL
