Muslim InVisibilities

An installation in three variations

Muslim life has been part of European everyday culture for centuries. But is this also reflected in the artefacts in the MEK's collection? What are they? What do they tell us about the people who made and used them, and about those who collected them?

What do they tell us about the people who made and used them and about those who collected them?

We show some answers to these questions in the installation "Muslim Invisibilities", which is a temporary intervention in the collection presentation "Cultural Contacts. Life in Europe". The installation will change twice. More and more objects and themes that touch on Muslim life in Europe will become visible. In addition, an interactive station invites visitors to select cultural artefacts from the MEK collection that they would like to exhibit themselves and to comment on them
