The armoury of the citadel is home to the Stadtgeschichtliches Museum Spandau. The permanent exhibition on the ground floor gives an overview of the history of Spandau. More than 300 objects tell of the settlement and development of the Havel city, which has only belonged to Berlin since 1920. The highlights of the exhibition include a Hudson Essex in running order and a collection of historic Siemens small electrical appliances, representing the industry that was based here in the 1920s. Film props from the studios once located here or the original recipe book of an old-established baker's family are also popular with visitors.
A branch of the Stadtgeschichtliches Museum can also be found in the Gothic House in the old town of Spandau.
