Thanks to the generous donation to the Nationalgalerie's collection by the family of collector Erich Marx, who died in 2020, key works such as "Straßenbahnhaltestelle. A monument to the future" (1976) and "Das Kapital Raum, 1970-1977" (1980) can be seen.

The new exhibition, on show for the first time in the Kleihueshalle and comprising around 15 works, explores the complex work and reception of Joseph Beuys. In addition to sculptures, environments and multiples, the works include pioneering actions such as "Der CHEF THE CHIEF, Fluxus Gesang" (1964) and "I like America and America likes Me" (1974).

The permanent presentation will be shown from now on with a changing solo exhibition of a contemporary position - starting on March 22, 2023 with the Israeli artist Naama Tsabar.

The exhibition is curated by Catherine Nichols, research associate at Hamburger Bahnhof - Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart.
