The exhibition shows paintings by Robert Liebknecht (1903 - 1994). The son of the lawyer and politician Karl Liebknecht fled from Berlin to Paris with his wife Hertha Liebknecht, née Goldstein, in 1933.

In exile in France, he created portraits of people who, like him, had to leave Germany.

The exhibition traces their fates and approaches Liebknecht's artistic work from a historical perspective. It was created in close collaboration with Michael Janitzki (Giessen), administrator of Robert Liebknecht's estate.
