Together with Max Hacke, Gustav Düsing was recently honored with the renowned Mies van der Rohe Award for the student house at the University of Braunschweig, which is distinguished by its innovative use of materials and the exemplary integration of the building into its natural environment.

In the underground main room of the gallery, Düsing is showing "sunsight to sunclipse", a work originally developed in 2021 at the Villa Massimo in Rome. The title refers to the Earth's orbit around the sun and emphasizes that the sun becomes visible (sunsight) and then invisible again (sunclipse). These terms, coined by Buckminster Fuller in his book Operating Manual for Spaceship Earth, compare the Earth to a spaceship surrounded by its atmosphere like a huge architectural shell.
