Kang Contemporary is pleased to present the group exhibition “Orchestrating Empathy”, with the artists Annette Cords, Vemo Hang & Moritz Jekat.
We live in a world in which our perception is constantly challenged by high-frequency and highly complex information. The task of finding our way in the world often becomes overwhelming. Where everything is in a state of flux, we must also be prepared to constantly change in order to remain in dialog with the world.
The typical symptoms of modern man: lack of sleep, overstimulation, depression, are leading more and more people to confront their sensitive selves. In addition to the physical and sensory aspects of world and self-perception, the emotionality of individuals is being emphasized. The central question is: How do I feel? Emphasis is placed on training the perception of inner sensitivities and stress limits. The sensitive exchange with our environments, which are permanently on air both physically and virtually, brings a new skill into focus: Orchestration. This refers to the ability to integrate and coordinate an ensemble of external expressive qualities into the system's own program.
In “Orchestrating Empathy”, the artists Annette Cords, Vemo Hang and Moritz Jekat devote themselves to experiencing, coping with and creatively translating the ambiguity resulting from the abundance of information.
