From Berlin to Buenos Aires: the photographer Annemarie Heinrich

The German-Argentine photographer Annemarie Heinrich has left her mark on modern photography in Argentina with her portraits of the art and cultural scene in Buenos Aires and her experimental works.

The exhibition "From Berlin to Buenos Aires: The photographer Annemarie Heinrich (1912-2005) and the literary life of Argentina" shows reproduced portraits of writers such as the Chilean Pablo Neruda, who lived in Buenos Aires for a long time, Jorge Luis Borges and María Elena Walsh. They capture the rich literary life of the Argentinian capital at this time, complemented by a selection of works from the library holdings of the Ibero-American Institute. The exhibition accompanies a comprehensive retrospective of Annemarie Heinrich's work at the Willy Brandt House in Berlin and a show of her portraits from Argentina's vibrant film, music and cabaret scene at the Argentine Embassy in Berlin.
