The exhibition “Metamorphoses of Reality” presents two points of view in dialog. The poetic view of cityscapes meets barcode-like alienated signatures of tree trunks in an exhibition. On the one hand, the repetitive diversity of the tree images has a meditative effect; on the other, they perhaps also form a straightened labyrinth in which one can lose oneself.
Dieter Matthes has close ties to the city of Berlin. The fact that Berlin is the artist's roots shows his love for everything the city has to offer: Rooftops, parks, backyards, train tracks and, time and again, trees. Matthes' colorful reinterpretation gives new meaning to these locations, which are usually inconspicuous in real life.
Dieter Matthes' photographs are the result of virtuoso visual rethinking. The metamorphosis of the city of Berlin and its trees unfolds in an intoxicating frenzy of colors and shapes. The exhibition Metamorphoses of Reality challenges the viewer to leave their visual comfort zone. Through his perspectives, the seen and the ordinary are transformed into colorful urban landscapes with almost painterly means. The exhibition was curated by Klára Hartmann.
The vernissage will take place on 21.11.24 from 6 pm.
