Deadly Matters

At the Georgen-Parochial II cemetery, visitors are invited to engage with death in an artistic way together with the exhibition team.

The exhibition “Deadly Matters” opens up a space for reflection on life in the face of its inevitable finiteness. Eight artists embark on a personal confrontation with death. They are showing the results of this intimate dialog at the Georgen-Parochial Cemetery II in Berlin. Due to their own biographies and global events, they take the time to ask the big questions. What remains when reality, perceived as constant, fades? Where does everything that was “destined for eternity” end up? Is it possible to prepare for death and is there a 'right' way to die? In their search for reconciliation and inner reflection, the women turn to artistic practice and open up their emotional worlds. The exhibition will be complemented by an accompanying program with discussions, barrier-free guided tours and participatory events. The project is funded by the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion.

The exhibition opening will take place on July 4 from 6 pm. The Deadly Matters collective will talk about their works and invite you to tea on the cemetery meadow.

Admission is free.
