David Varnhold: Concrete Future

David Varnhold takes visitors to his photo exhibition into surreal worlds of the urban jungle and shows his observations of contemporary architecture.

David Varnhold was fascinated early on by the creative will, the visionary grandeur and the fuck-you attitude of Brutalism. He immersed himself photographically in the world of this "wild, natural" (Le Corbusier) architectural language. The focus was not on capitalist exploitation, but on the ideal of an egalitarian, enlightened society. And how playful, free in form and strikingly cool these bold buildings appear. Did Miles Davis unknowingly write the soundtrack in 1957? Varnhold takes up what he found and pays tribute to these utopias and their experimental power with his visual fantasies.
