When it rained chocolate from the sky

Workshop during Children's Culture Month

As part of Children's Culture Month, the Allied Museum is offering open guided tours on October 12, 2024.

The tour through the permanent exhibition focuses on everyday life and the Berlin Airlift.

Participants will learn about the Western occupying powers. They learn how heavy a sack of coal from the time of the airlift actually was and what everyday life was like for Berlin children immediately after the Second World War. References to the children's lives are made time and again.

Highlights of the tour include the story of the "chocolate pilot" Gail S. Halvorsen and a tour of the interior of the British Hastings TG 503 airlift plane.

After the tour, the children make their own "chocolate parachutes" and let them fly from the airlift plane.

The tour is free of charge. Please register in advance at or (030)81 81 99 96.
