From January 1990 to 1994, representatives of oppositional development policy groups discussed with representatives of the GDR's state solidarity and development cooperation at the Development Policy Round Table (ERT). Also involved were committed individuals from the church, academia and politics, increasingly also from West Germany. One aim of the ERT was to be able to use the donations from the Solidarity Committee of the GDR for development cooperation in the future. in 1994, the North-South Bridges Foundation was established from the assets of the Solidarity Committee to provide financial support for development NGOs in East Germany.

The event examines the political discussions of the ERT, the motivations of the participants, the possibilities for action during the transformation processes in the former GDR and the "path of the money" from the Solidarity Committee via the Treuhandanstalt to the North-South Bridges Foundation.
