In the 19th century, the neo-Gothic house designed by Eduard Gebhardt in 1841 based on English models served as the so-called "Prinzenburg", initially as the residence of the Prussian Prince Friedrich Wilhelm (1831-1888), later the German Emperor Friedrich III. Since then, it has undergone many different uses and structural changes.

The guided tour of the grounds and the building provides an insight into the current renovation work: since September 2022, the building shell and interior have been undergoing a thorough overhaul, including the complete renewal of the building services and the renovation of the open spaces around the building. Barrier-free access to the catering areas on the first floor will also be created. The current use of the building will remain unchanged: The first floor will once again house a restaurant business, whereas the upper floor will contain two residential units.
