Die Stadt ohne Juden – ein utopischer Film vor 100 Jahren. Und heute?

The film "The City Without Jews", an adaptation of Hugo Bettauer's novel of the same name, is 100 years old this year. The film is dedicated to the supposedly utopian, definitely anti-Semiticidea of an expulsion of the Jewish population from a fictitious republic called Utopia.
In view of the current political situation, in which fantasies of expulsion are once again being normalized, we will be showing excerpts from the film on two evenings in cooperation with the KIgA Kitchen project of the Kreuzberg Initiative against Anti-Semitism(KIgA e.V.), followed by a discussion with a panel of renowned experts. On the first evening, we will discuss mechanisms of discrimination and exclusion in the media and politics. On the second evening, we will focus on experiences of discrimination by people from different communities and talk about their perspectives.
Are there parallels between the time the film was made and today? Where are there similarities in experiences of exclusion and where do they end?Where do we go from this point in the story?Translated with DeepL
