On admission-free Museum Sunday, families can learn about everyday school life in the German imperial era and share their first school pictures with others! The new school year will soon be starting in Berlin too - for some for the first time, for others perhaps for the last time, while others have long since finished school. A blackboard, original school desks and a cupboard of teaching materials from around 1900 in our exhibition BerlinZEIT show how childhood and school have changed in Berlin . When was the first Berlin school founded? What did girls learn, what did boys learn? What did the classes look like? You can find out all this and more here. The collection of the Stadtmuseum Berlin includes numerous school enrolment photos from the past and present. They show Berliners born here and those who moved here on their first day at school. On Museum Sunday, you can upload your own photos with the whole family. In this way, your personal history will become part of the shared culture of remembrance in our city!

Price info: If possible, please book online a day/slot ticket in advance on the Museum Sunday Berlin ticket shop. Online tickets are available respectively one week before each Museum Sunday. For spontaneous visits, tickets are available on site.
