Together with the artist Jessica Voke, the Museum Reinickendorf invites you to a free weekly creative activity, the "Slow Stitch". Every Wednesday, from 10 to 11.15 am, interested people are invited to sit together and enjoy the meditative pleasure of this creative activity.
"Slow Stitch" describes the process of decorative sewing by hand with a simple mending stitch in contrasting colored thread. This collaborative art form has its roots in the Bengali "Kantha", where villagers sat together to reinforce torn sari fabrics and turn them into quilts. The magic of slow stitching is that it slows your mind to the rhythm of your hands and breath. It can be seen as an antidote to the overwhelming pace of modern life.
This new offering is open to all ages, all genders, all backgrounds and all levels of experience, experienced experts and beginners alike. Come along each week and join in! Materials and refreshments will be provided.
There is no charge to attend.
