Visit us and take part in our guided tour "Tohuwabohu under the dome: A tour of the synagogue from 1866 to the present day". The head of our education department will give you a knowledgeable and entertaining tour of our museum's permanent exhibition and the prayer room of today's synagogue congregation. Discover the multifaceted history of the New Synagogue, from its opening in 1866 under the watchful eye of Otto von Bismarck, to its destruction during the Second World War and its reconstruction around the time of the fall of communism. On your journey through the past, you will meet courageous policemen, prophets, pioneering rabbis and trace stories that are literally inscribed in the walls and objects of the New Synagogue.
