Modernity garden

Guided tour with palace employee Antje Lange, SPSG

Started by Countess zu Dohna in the 17th century and continued under Elector Friedrich III of Brandenburg, a first baroque garden in Pankow developed at the Niederschönhausen estate. Queen Elisabeth Christine of Brunswick-Bevern (1715-1797) had the garden redesigned several times during the almost 60 years she lived at Schönhausen. And Peter Josef Lenné, the famous garden architect, also left his mark. Elements from all these eras can still be found in the Garden of Modernity, which was laid out for the president of the GDR from 1950.
