In 1990, courageous citizens not only saved the documents of the secret police from destruction, they also turned Mielke's headquarters back into a public space. Today, the Stasi Records Archive is located here and provides information about the work of the Stasi and its documents.

"A monument to surveillance": 111 kilometers of files are stored in the Stasi Records Archive, many of which contain personal data about people - collected by the state. The exhibition "Insight into the Secret" makes the significance of this archive comprehensible.

After the tour, you will have the opportunity to visit our collection of sample files. It consists of reproductions of original Stasi documents. In addition to factual files and personal documents of Stasi officers, you will also find files of those affected. They have consented to the publication of their documents and make an "insight into the secret" possible.
