In July 1941, the municipal mental hospital for children, known as "Wiesengrund" for short, was established in Wittenau at Eichborndamm 238/240. Children who were classified as "unworthy of life" according to the guidelines of the National Socialist "hereditary and racial doctrine" were admitted to Ward 3 with the deceptive additional name "Children's Specialist Ward". Many children died as a result of risky medical experiments and examination methods, a lack of medical help or insufficient nutrition.
The guided tour at the authentic site conveys the history of the former children's hospital using the example of individual patient fates.
