In July 1941, the municipal mental hospital for children, known as "Wiesengrund" for short, was established in Wittenau at Eichborndamm 238/240. In Ward 3, with the deceptive additional name "Children's Specialist Ward," children were admitted who were classified as "unworthy of life" according to the guidelines of National Socialist "hereditary and racial doctrine." Many children died as a result of risky medical experiments and examination methods, due to a lack of medical assistance or inadequate nutrition.

The guided tour at the authentic site conveys the history of the former children's hospital using the example of individual patients' fates.
