Nach Theodor Hosemann: Prinz Carl von Preussen mit Familie vor dem Schloss Glienicke, um 1842

200 years ago, Prince Carl of Prussia (1801-1883) proudly took possession of his estate in Glienicke and from then on called himself "Sir Charles Glienicke" in private letters. As a special highlight, a presentation will be shown in the prince's living quarters at Glienicke Palace from August 17 to October 31, 2024. It consists mainly of objects from the collection of Berlin collector Bernd Schmidt, which consolidate the existing exhibition and focus on cultural life in Glienicke.

The main items on display are letters from Princess Charlotte (1798-1860, married Grand Duke Nicholas Pavlovich of Russia in 1817, Tsar Nicholas I from 1825) to her brother Carl. Both siblings were very devoted to each other, which was expressed in their letters, visits and gifts. In addition, other art objects from the possessions of Prince Carl and his wife Princess Marie (books, leather portfolios, a seal, a collection folder with a printed list of Prince Carl's weapons collection) will be on display. During the guided tour, participants will learn more about the prince's life and the objects on display.Translated with DeepL
