The library of Frederick the Great in Sanssouci Palace contains over 2,000 volumes of Greek and Roman poetry, historiography, and French literature of the 17th and 18th centuries. This makes it, together with the library in the royal apartment of the New Palace, the best-preserved book collection of the original six library rooms in his palaces. Only a relatively small stock of books was lost during the Second World War.

Foundation librarian Sabine Hahn takes guests on a tour of the private retreat of the Prussian king and provides insight into the books in the royal library. The special tour offers a unique opportunity to take a look at the original library holdings and learn something about how Frederick II worked with his books and about the king's peculiar way of handling them.Translated with DeepL
