Veranstaltung „Teegenuss beim König“ in den Neuen Kammern

Eva Wollschläger, collection expert at the KPM Archive of the SPSG, presents the interiors of the New Chambers guest palace in Sanssouci Park, which are among the last decorative room creations that Frederick the Great had realized according to his own ideas. The ornamentation of the Frederician Rococo period once again unfolded its impressive beauty and stylish elegance in the banqueting halls and guest apartments of this palace. A multifaceted search for traces reveals the close links between interior design and the porcelain creations of KPM Berlin in this last phase of Frederician Rococo. The influence of Frederick the Great on artistic design and the artful way in which porcelain motifs, decorative ideas and imaginative interior design are combined will be made clear by means of selected examples.

Afterwards, guests take a seat at the royal table in the Blue Gallery and take part in a tea ceremony with high-quality porcelain. While tasting different types of tea and delicacies, a tea sommelier provides exciting insights into the world of tea and turns the connoisseurs into kings.
